Wimal Weerawansa seeks bail from Colombo HC

A bail application has been filed seeking the release of MP Wimal Weerawansa with the Colombo High Court.


Ada Derana reporter said that the application was filed by a Counsel who appeared on behalf of Weerawansa on Tuesday (31).


Former minister Weerawansa, who was arrested on charges of misusing state vehicles, has been remanded until February 07.


Weerawansa is accused of misusing several vehicles belonging to the presidential secretariat, during his tenure as the Minister of Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, and thereby causing losses to the tune of Rs 41 million to the government.
