Garbage disposal in Karadiyana temporarily halted

In light of a protest, disposal of garbage collected from Colombo in Karadiyana, Piliyandala has been temporarily stalled, Karadiyana Waste Management Authority’s Manager, Dhanuka Wijerathna says.

He stated that although garbage was disposed of at Karadiyana earlier today (19), further disposal had been halted due to a protest which began at 9:30 am.

The protest was organized by a group of residents and politicians, against diverting garbage collected from Colombo to the the Karadiyana garbage dumping site.

Our reporters state that the protesters are currently carrying out their protest near the bridge in Borupana.
