Child kidnapped from Gampola found in Batticaloa

The two-year-old child who was recently abducted from the Gampola area has been found in Batticaloa, police said. 

According to an Ada Derana reporter, the child was found unharmed at a house located in Urukamam in the Karadiyanaru police division. 

Meanwhile a suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with the abduction.

The child’s uncle, a 26-year-old youth, who was also abducted along with the child, was released in Kandy this morning.

The child and his uncle were abducted while traveling to the child’s father’s shop located in the Gampola Town on Thursday (May 4) evening.

The child father had stated that he received several phone calls demanding a ransom for their release the very same day.    

Three special police teams had launched investigations into the incident, following a complaint lodged by the child’s mother with Gampola Police.

The abductors had released the 26-year-old youth this morning (6) in the Kandy town. Polcei said that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 3 million for the safe release of the child.
