Water distribution pipe takes hit from landslide - supply hindered in several areas

Water supply to several areas has been affected due to the damage sustained by one of the main water pipes that distributes water from the Kalatuwawa and Labugama water purification centres, National Water Supply and Drainage Board says.

The pipe line had reportedly been damaged due to a landslide in Thunmodara, Kaluaggala.

Accordingly, the Water Supply and Drainage Board announced that the water supply to the areas of Waga, Kaluaggala, Hanwella, Jayaweeragoda, Jalathara, Ranaala and Navagamuwa has been hindered.

The Board informed that the damage from the landslide would also result in a pressure reduction of the water distributed to Kaduwela.

The repair of the damaged pipe line is being delayed by the prevailing unfavourable weather conditions, the Water Supply Board added.
