Steps will be taken to issue new certificates of examinations destroyed in the floods, Commissioner-General of Examinations, D. B. M. N. Pushpakumara said.

The Commissioner-General stated that certificates for examinations including the GCE Advanced Level and Ordinary Level examinations would be reissued as per the recommendation of the Grama Niladhari who is responsible for verifying that the certificate was in fact damaged/lost in the floods.

He added that the certificates would be reissued by the one-day service, free-of-charge.

Meanwhile, the Pushpakumara also announced that the application deadline for the GCE Ordinary Level examinations 2017 has been postponed till June 15.

The deadline which was previously set for May 31 was thus extended owing to inclement weather and associated flood conditions, he elaborated.
