Main suspect in Piliyandala shooting arrested

The main suspect involved in the Piliyandala shooting incident has been arrested. 

The shooting occurred during a drug raid carried out by the Police, on the 9 of May where a Police officer and child were shot to death. 

The suspect was arrested in the Madigiriya area yesterday (15), by the personnel of the Mirihana Special Crimes Division. 

At the time of the arrest, police stated that the individual had 10g of a variety of drugs. 

The individual, who is a 27-year-old resident of the Darga, will be presented to the Mathugama Magistrate’s Court today (16). 
Furthermore, Police Departments in  Ambalangoda,  Urugasmanhandiya and Ahungalla have issued warrants to take up the case to Court. 

The Mirihana Police Department has begun further investigations on the matter.
