The government is eyeing to resolve the garbage issue of the country through the proposed garbage recycling plant in Aruwakkalu, Puttalam, a Minister said.

The project will be initiated in September, Minister Patali Ranawaka told reporter in Colombo on Monday.

The Minister also invited the environmentalists and the other relevant authorities to stand with the government to make the project a reality.

“Those who oppose this project would be accountable for the garbage issue in Colombo and across the country,” he warned.

Minister Ranawaka also vowed that this site will not be yet another garbage dumping site, since the project aims to recycle waste.
