HC to summon Rohitha’s asset case in August

The High Court has decided to re open the case regarding the allegations presented against the Rs. 40 million assets owned by MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena. 

The case which was taken up by the Colombo High Court today (3), will be heard again on the 2 and 3 of August, later this year (2017). 

During the court proceedings, the defendant’s attorney stated that the defendant was not allowed to see the electronic evidence that was stored. 

Defendant’s attorney added that the State Counsel was reluctant to handle the evidence that was stored electronically. 

The Colombo High Court has postponed the hearing and issued an order to these authorities responsible to grant permits so that necessary pieces of evidence can be investigated on.
