Cardinal requests GMOA to postpone strike

July 4, 2017   12:16 pm

Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith today called on the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) to postpone their planned strike action in order to assist patients affected by dengue.

Addressing a media briefing at the Bishop’s House in Colombo today (04) on the waste management issue and the dengue threat, he request the government doctors to avoid launching a strike at this moment as there is a risk of a dengue epidemic spreading in the country.

He instead urged them to assist the innocent patients who are suffering due to the spread of dengue.

The GMOA had decided to engage in an indefinite strike against the government’s failure to resolve the SAITM issue and declare a stance on the matter.
