Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya resorted to postponing the Parliamentary session owing to a heated situation that arose during the session.

The heated situation had arisen when questions were raised from the Parliamentarians of the Opposition.

Prime Miniter Ranil Wickremesinghe issued a special statement on the petroleum workers’ strike in Parliament today (26).

Following the statement, the Joint Opposition and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) had proceeded to ask various questions from the Opposition, which subsequently led to a situation of unrest.
