The Kelaniya University will re-open on October 16.

Accordingly, the students could returns to their hostels by October 15, The University Administration announced.

The Kelaniya University was temporarily closed on October 05 until further notice.

The decision was made by the University Administration following a clash which occurred between two student groups.

Eight students were hospitalized following the clash which took place between the two student groups earlier today.

Discussions held between the two groups to resolve the conflict was not a success, according to University sources.

Therefore a decision was made by the University administration to suspend students’ activities in order avoid further damage to lives and properties.

Accordingly all students were informed to leave University premises before noon October 5.

However the closure exempted the Kelaniya Medical faculty.
