Police investigate disappearance of three girls from Kolonnawa

The Police have commenced investigations into the disappearance of a young mother and two female children who are residents of Kolonnawa.

The three missing persons have been identified as 19-year old Malithi Wathsala who is the mother of an infant, 15-year old Yasanthi Madushani the sister in law of Malithi and a 14-year old from the neighborhood named Charithri Chandrasekaram also known as Sweta.   

The three females had departed from their apartment in Salamulla on Saturday (14), to visit Malithi’s father at his residence in Orugodawatte. Following their arrival they had left the residence to buy clothes from a nearby boutique and not returned. 

It has been reported that Charithri Chandrasekaram had contacted the husband of Malithi Wathsala at 9.00am this morning informing him that they are not harmed and that the Police should not to be informed of their disappearance.
 
The families of the missing females arrived at the Wellampitiya Police station yesterday (16), to lodge a formal missing persons report.  

Police Media spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
