Gazette on LG polls to be issue on Nov. 1

Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Faiszer Musthapha said that the gazette notification pertaining to Local Government elections will be issued on November 01.

He made this statement at a media briefing held at Colombo today (27).

The zoning plan of Ambagamuwa and Nuwara Eliya Pradeshiya Sabhas will also be launched parallel to the gazette notification, the Minister said.

The Minister also said that the report will be released based on the geographical location and demographic composition of these areas.

Some of the mutilated clauses in the gazette notification regarding the LG election are being changed upon instructions of the Attorney General,the Minister said.

The Local Government election would be held on January next year, as previously planned, he added.
