Couple in Jaffna arrested with counterfeit currency notes

The Jaffna Anti-Vice Squad arrested a couple with counterfeit currency notes worth Rs. 2, 168, 000 in Ariyalai –Jaffna, today(7).

The arrest was made following a tip off received by Jaffna Police Station.

The police also seized a colour printer,scanner, storage drive, two mobile phones and other items used to print fake currency notes.

568  fake notes of denomination Rs 5000 (400), Rs 1000 (168) were seized by the Police along with the suspects.

The suspects were identified as 22 year-old female and a 26 year-old male.
 
They will be produced before the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court today.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by Jaffna Police.
