Import Duty on sports shoes to be removed effective midnight today

The import duty on sports shoes will be removed effective midnight today (9), to bolster the sporting community within Sri Lanka Minister Mangala Samaraweera said. 

He further stated that a sum of Rs.100 million has been allocated to develop over 100 sports grounds in rural areas of the country. 

Meanwhile it was also stated that medium sized companies run by females will be given loan concessions as an initiative to empower women. Further a sum of Rs. 3 billion will be allocated to support IT startups and SMEs.
