PM asked to appear before Bond Commission on Monday

November 16, 2017   04:30 pm

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating the issuance of treasury bonds has requested Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to appear before the commission next Monday (Nov. 20).

The PM has already submitted a testimony to the commission via an affidavit.

Wickremesinghe had previously stated that he was prepared to appear before the Commission for any clarifications that need to be made.

In a statement to the media last month the Prime Minister’s Office declared that the Premier will have no objections in appearing before the Bond Commission following the mention of his name by persons produced before the Bond Commission.

When the recording of evidence pertaining to the case concluded on October 17, the commission had announced that Prime Minister will be summoned before the commission should the need arise for him to submit evidence.
