‘Aava Group’ members arrested in Colombo

Three suspects member of the ‘Aava Group’, the notorious criminal gang responsible for various acts of violence in the North, have been arrested in Colombo.

The suspects have been arrested by a team of officers attached to Jaffna Police following an operation carried out yesterday (29), police said.

The suspects are charged over several attacks carried out in Jaffna, Kopai and Manipay areas with sharp objects including swords.

The arrested suspects are aged 17, 20 and 22 and are residents of Vavuniya, Kondavil and Jaffna. 

They are to be produced at the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court today (30).
