Six gang members arrested over sword attacks in Jaffna

Six main suspects of the criminal gang allegedly responsible for the recent sword attacks on two individuals at Meesalai, Jaffna have been arrested by police.

The suspects were arrested in a special operation carried out last night, acting on a tip-off, while the group were hiding out in Vaddukoddai area.

Several swords and sharp weapons found in the possession of the suspects were also taken into custody.

Police said that the arrested suspects are wanted in connection with a series of acts of violence, robberies and threatening incidents in the region.

They were arrested over the attack and injuring of two persons using swords in the Meesalai area on December 4.

The suspects were ordered remanded until December 21 after being produced at the Mallakam court in Jaffna.
