Two armed robbers beaten up in Makola; customer gets shot

A person was injured following a shooting carried during an armed robbery gone wrong at a shop in the Makola North area in Sapugaskanda. 

According to reports, two suspects had arrived on a motorcycle with the intention of robbing the shop last night (19). 

A certain customer who was at the shop at the time of the robbery was also wounded when one of the suspects had opened fire. He has been admitted to the Ragama Hospital. 

In a sudden turn of events, several bystanders and residents in the area had then ganged up on the armed robbers who were severely beaten by the angry mob.

The two suspects were later handed over to the police and are currently receiving treatment at the Ragama Hospital, under police protection. 

 The firearms found in the possession of the suspects, who are residents of Piliyandala and Maharagama, have also been taken into police custody.
