The arrests were made by a team of personnel from the Sri Jayawardenepura Special Task Force (STF) camp and the OCPD upon intelligence received last night (21).

The police confiscated a large consignment of narcotics, firearms and hand grenades from the safe house that the gang members were hiding in at Dagonna on Negombo Road.

Makandure Madush is a notorious underworld figure and drug kingpin who is currently in hiding abroad. One of his close accomplices are among the arrested suspects.

The arrested suspects are to be produced at the Negombo magistrates Court while further investigations into the incident are currently being conducted.
