UNP Working Committee decides not to change party leadership

The majority in the UNP Parliamentary Group and Working Committee have decided that there is no need for a change in party leadership at this moment, says Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

 

Meanwhile an advisory committee comprising 12 MPs have been appointed to provide recommendations to make changes in the UNP higher ranks, Kariyawasam added.

 

Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Mangala Samaraweera, Navin Dissanayake, Harin Fernando, Ajith P. Perera, Eran Wickramaratne, Ruwan Wijewardena, Nalin Bandara, Asoka Priyantha and J.C. Alawathuwala were appointed to the committee in a secret vote. 

 

In addition to this Deputy Leaders of the party Sajith Premadasa and Ravi Karunanayake are also included in the committee.

 

The top positions in the party are expected to be filled before the end of this month.
