20 spill gates of Thabbowa Reservoir opened

Twenty spill gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir in Puttalam have been opened this morning (25) due to heavy rainfall, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said.

Three spill gates have been opened by 3 feet each, eight spill gates have been opened by one foot while 6 spill gates have been opened by 6 inches each, Ada Derana reporter said.

Accordingly the sluice gates of the Thabbowa Reservoir are currently releasing 5,750 cubic feet of water per minute to the Mee Oya.

Therefore the Disaster Management Center (DMC) advises those living downstream to be vigilant in this ragard.
