Attanagalu Oya and Maa Oya reach flood level -DMC

The water level of Attanagalu Oya is reaching a major flood level, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) announced a short while ago.

Therefore the DMC requested communities in Negombo, JaEla, Katana, Minuwangoda, Gampaha and  Attanagalla areas to be cautious.

Meanwhile, people in downstream areas in Badalgama & Giriulla are requested to be vigilant as the water level in Maa Oya was reaching a minor flood level, the DMC said.

Heavy pre-monsoon rains which continued in the country from May 20, have killed at least sixteen people, and more than 130,000 people are affected in 20 District as of today (25).
