Govt. schools in Gampaha closed tomorrow

May 27, 2018   05:57 pm

All government schools in Gampaha Education Zone will be closed tomorrow (27) as most by-roads are still under water, the Education Ministry announced.

Reportedly, several roads in the Gampaha area have been inundated with the overspill of Attanagalu Oya due to the disaster conditions.

Therefore, after considering requests of the parents, it was decided to close all schools in the Gampaha Educational Zone.

The schools will reopen on Wednesday (30) and the minister of education had instructed to cover the relevant academic activities which were scheduled for today, on another appropriate day.

There still is a flood situation in the Millakanda and Putupaula areas of the Kalu River and the Dunamale area in Attanagalu Oya, says Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
