September 21, 2018   09:23 am

The reason for the depreciation of Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar is the increase in US interest rate, according to the State Minister Harsha De Silva.

He stated that the value of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar has depreciated from 7.7 per cent.

The State Minister made these comments joining a press conference held in Colombo.

Parliamentarian Dilan Perera had pointed out that the government should take measures to prevent the depreciation of Rupee, however, according to State Minister Harsha De Silva preventing the depreciation of Rupee using unnatural means can bring forth disadvantageous results in the future.
