The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today granted more time for the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to present written submission pertaining to the investigation against MP Ravi Karunanayake for allegedly providing false information before the Bond Commission.

When the complaint was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake this morning (25), Senior State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama appearing on behalf of the CID said that the department intends to present written submissions with regard to the investigation and therefore requested for time from the court.

The Chief Magistrate accepted the request and instructed the state counsel to present written submissions before September 28.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had issued several directives in connection with the investigation based on a request made by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on September 14.

However, the court issued an order on Friday (21) temporarily suspending all the orders issued by the court with regard to the CID’s investigation, following a motion filed by the attorney appearing on behalf of  Global Transportation and Logistic - a company under investigation.

The CID has stated that it intends to present written submissions with regard to this.
