Case against Dhammaloka Thero postponed

Colombo High Court has ordered to postpone further hearing of the case against Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero, filed over the alleged illegal possession of an elephant calf, until October 15.

The order was issued today (26) when the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Sampath Wijeratne.

The junior Attorney-at-Law representing Dhammaloka Thero informed the court that the senior defense attorney of the case is unable to attend the case hearing due to health reasons.

Accordingly, further hearing of the case was postponed until October 15 by the Colombo HC Judge Sampath Wijeratne.

The case against Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero was filed by the Attorney General for the alleged illegal retainment of an elephant calf without a valid permit at the Alan Mathiniyaramaya Temple in Kirulapone.
