The leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that they accept that neither a new Constitution nor a Constitutional Amendment can resolve the fundamental issues faced by the people of the country.

He stated that the Sri Lankan Rupee continues to rapidly fall and that the country is facing an economic crisis. The JVP leader also stressed that the behavior of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) is a cause for fear and that they accept all this issues will not be solved.

Dissanayake said that the accusations that the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, which was brought forth by the JVP, is an attempt to fulfill a hidden agenda of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe are laughable.

He stated that Ranil Wickremesinghe cannot sit on the chair of the President and that he should not be allowed to sit on the President’s chair.

Dissanayake said that the Prime Minister thinks that the only election he can win is the presidential poll and that they believe victory can be achieved through the votes of the minorities.

Regardless of what the advisors around Prime Minister say, Ranil Wickremesinghe cannot sit on the President’s seat.
