The Supreme Court today (28) ordered to postpone the hearing of appeal filed by Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran until October 19.

The Court of Appeal recently issued an interim order, halting the decision of Wigneswaran to remove Balasubramaniam Deniswaran, former Northern Province Minister of Fisheries, Transport, Trade and Rural Development, from his ministerial portfolio.

CM Wigneswaran subsequently filed an appeal before the Supreme Court, seeking an order invalidating the interim order issued by the Court of Appeal.

The appeal was taken up before a two-judge bench comprising Justices Eva Wanasundara and Vijith Malalgoda today.

Considering the submissions, the Supreme Court issued an order to take up the appeal hearing before a three-judge bench, hence postponed the hearing until October 19.
