The Colombo High Court today (04) issued summons on Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga to testify in the case against the former Chairman of Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA) Tiran Alles and three others.

When the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Wikum Kaluarachchi today, the defense attorneys cross examined Nishantha Sri Warnashinghe the National Organizer of Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), who has been named as one of the witnesses of the case.

The Colombo High Court then issued summons to Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and former Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga to appear before the court to testify at the next hearing of the case.

The Attorney General had filed the case against the former Chairman of RADA Tiran Alles, former Chief Operations Officer of RADA Saliya Wickramasuriya, former senior LTTE leader Emil Kanthan and Jayantha Dias Samarasinghe for allegedly misappropriating Rs 200 million of funds belonging to the company, promising to establish houses for people in Northern Province, who were displaced from the Tsunami disaster.

The Colombo High Court has decided to proceed with the hearing of the case without the second defendant of the case, Emil Kanthan, as he is currently absconding.

Accordingly, further hearing of the case was postponed to October 10.
