Pakistani nabbed with heroin worth Rs 30M at BIA

A Pakistani national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake while in possession of a stock of heroin worth around Rs 30 million.

The 39-year-old suspect was arrested by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the arrival area of the airport after being searched upon arriving in the country from Doha.

They found approximately 2 kg and 425 g of heroin valued at Rs 30 million cleverly concealed at the bottom of the suspect’s luggage.

The arrested Pakistani national is to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate today (13).
