SLFP Mawanella organizer arrested by STF

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Organizer for Mawanella Imtiaz Cader Mohamed has been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF).

STF officers had found 3 unregistered firearms and several rounds of ammunition with him when searched his house in Kegalle, this morning (18). A Dubai-imported MP5K automatic rifle commonly used for VIP security purposes, a T-56 rifle, a Repeater-type firearm and a stock of live ammunition has been recovered from the house.

Reportedly, he is currently being escorted to the Police Organized Crime Prevention Division (OCPD).

Imtiaz Cader Mohamed had also served as the former leader of the house of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.

He had been charged with the possession of illegal firearm on a previous occasion as well.
