Asian Para Games dual gold medalist honoured

Sri Lankan Para-athlete W. Amila Prashan, who clinched two gold medals at the 2018 Asian Para Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, was honoured at his hometown by the Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha.

He has won two gold medals at 100 meters and 200 meters events at the Asian Para Games, which was participated by 42 other countries.

Amila Prashan, who participated in the Asian Para Games representing the infantry regiment of Sri Lanka Army, lost his right leg during the humanitarian operation in 2008.

Apart from bagging two gold medals, Amila Prashan also managed to break a games record set by a Japanese para-athlete Anishi Anomoto in 2014.

Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Anjana Sandaruwan and many others had joined this event to welcome the Asian Para Games champion.

Amila Prashan is a father of three residing in Mundalama area in Madurankulam and his eldest child is said to be differently abled since birth. 

Although he is currently living amidst financial issues, he dreams to bring honour to the country by winning gold medals at the 2019 World Athletic Championship and 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.
