Shooting incident within CPC premises

UPDATE: One of victims of the shooting incident at CPC has succumbed to his injuries, stated Ada Derana reporter.

Reportedly, the deceased is a resident of Kurunegala.

The tense situation which occurred at around 3.50 pm today (28) at the CPC premises still continues.

 


 

 

 

UPDATE (5.02 pm): Another person injured from the shooting inside CPC has been admitted to the National Hospital.

 



Two persons have been injured in a shooting incident within the premises of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation at Dematagoda.

The injured persons have been admitted to the National Hospital, stated the police.

The incident had occurred due to a tense situation arose when former Minister Arjuna Ranatunga visited the premises.

The condition of the injured persons has not been revealed yet.

Police Media Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a guard of the former Minster Ranatunga had fired the gunshots.

However, the relevant guard has been arrested over the incident, said the police.

Dematagoda Police is conducting further investigations.
