UNP Parliamentarian Wasantha Senanayake today (31) officially assumed duties as Sri Lanka’s new Minister of Tourism and Wildlife.

The minister assumed duties at the Wildlife Ministry in a ceremony this morning following religious observations.

Meanwhile, UNP MP Ananda Aluthgamage assumed duties as the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Wildlife.

The two parliamentarians, who represent the United National Party (UNP) in Parliament, recently agreed to render their support for the incumbent government and new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Addressing the media after assuming duties, the Minister Wasantha Senanayake stated that he is still a UNP parliamentarian.

He said that he decided to support the current government with the belief that a change should be made in the country while maintaining a successful government.
