Shootout in Modara injures five

A shootout has occurred near a housing complex in the Modara at around 3 pm today (10), stated Police Media Spokesperson.

Police stated that two persons who arrived on a motorbike had opened fire at a group travelling on a three-wheeler.

Reportedly, six persons including a female had sustained injuries in the incident and had been admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo.

A group of four males from Colombo 15, aged 31, 28, 30 and 26, had been travelling on the three-wheeler when the shootout occurred.

The 40 year old three-wheeler driver and another woman who had been traveling on a separate three-wheeler had also been injured in the event.

Modara Police is conducting further investigations on the incident.
