‘Manusath Derana’ successfully completes One Million Trees project

One Million Trees Project, initiated by ‘Manusath Derana’ Nature Force for the celebration of the 13th anniversary of TV Derana, has successfully concluded today (15).
Accordingly, trees were planted for 17km, along the road from the historic Ridi Viharaya (‘Silver Temple’) to Mallawapitiya in Kurunegala.
The Nature Force of ‘Manusath Derana’ then planted the millionth tree at the Ridi Viharaya.
The youth committee of the temple had organized the event under the instructions of Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Buddharakkhitha Mahanayake Thero.
All the schools and state institutions in Kurunegala District also joined today’s event.
TV Derana, setting an example as a television channel, decided to implement massive a tree planting campaign, themed ‘Magen Gasak Mavu Deranata’ (‘A tree for Mother Earth from Me’), in celebration of its 13th anniversary.
‘Manusath Derana, the main CSR initiative of TV Derana, launched the One Million Trees Project with the commencement of the biggest environmental project in the country ‘Nature Force’ during an event held at the Sri Maha Viharaya in Pepiliyana on 28th August 2018.
Various schools, universities, religious places, volunteering organizations and the general public had also made contributions to this project launched by Manusath Derana.
‘Manusath Derana’ also executed a tree planting campaign named ‘Thuruliya Wenuwen Api’ jointly led by the Sri Lanka Army, the Expressway Operation Maintenance and Management Division on 23th August 2018.
Joining hands with the One Million Trees programme, President Maithripala Sirisena, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, and Speaker of the Parliament Karu Jayasuriya also have planted trees.
