Despite the low turnout of students at schools yesterday (06), a slight increase was shown at schools located in Colombo and suburban areas today (07), according to school principals.

However, it was reported that there was still a low turnout of students in several areas on the island.

Ada Derana correspondents said the tri-forces, the Police, as well as the parents of students,  had also joined to ensure security at schools and nearby areas.

Meanwhile, the turnout of students in Kalutara, Galle and Anuradhapura districts had also increased considerably, said Ada Derana correspondents.

However, it was reported that, in Puttalam and Matara districts, the student turnout had been lower.

The security forces had taken steps to beef up the security around schools.
