President directs relief to people affected by adverse weather

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has directed relevant officials to provide necessary relief to all those who are affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
“Government officials have been instructed by His Excellency the President to take immediate action to ensure the safety and welfare of the people during disaster situations such as floods and landslides resulting from the prevailing adverse weather conditions in many districts of the country.”
Ministry officials, District Secretaries and Divisional Secretaries have been provided with circular instructions to coordinate with the Ministry of Defence and the Disaster Management Centre to be prepared for rapid response in the event of floods, landslides, rock falls etc. occurring due to heavy rainfall, and to take immediate disaster mitigation and public welfare measures.
The monitoring and coordination of these measures will take place under the supervision of the Prime Minister, the statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat said.
