Students & education staff returning from COVID-19-hit countries to be quarantined

Students and other individuals involved in educational activities, who are returning from the countries affected by the COVID-19 will be subjected to 14-day quarantine, says the Ministry of Education.

Accordingly, the Ministry has instructed the all the heads of schools and other educational institutions to inform relevant students, academics and non-academic staff, who are arriving in Sri Lanka from the countries, including China, South Korea and Italy, that are severely hit by the wide-spreading virus, will be quarantined a for mandatory time period of 14 days.

As COVID-19 cases are reported from approximately 70 countries across the world, the Ministry of Health has requested the Education Ministry to inform all individuals involved in the education sector in foreign countries that they would be quarantined for two weeks upon arriving in the island.
