Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has decided to halt training programmes at vocational training institutes under its purview, taking into consideration the current situation on the threat of coronavirus in the country.
This will accordingly be in effect from yesterday (13) until March 31.
The Bureau has informed the trainees, who are at boarding places, to take steps to return home.
In the meantime, all technical colleges and vocational training institutes under the purview of Vocational Training Authority (VTA), Ceylon - German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI), National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) and Department of Technical Education and Training will also remain closed in this manner.
National educational institutes and teacher training colleges across the island will also be closed from March 16 until March 29, due to the prevailing concerns over the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Education announced yesterday.
