Tourists stranded without airport transport urged to contact nearest police station

Tourists who are unable to find transportation to travel to the airport are requested to contact the nearest police station, says Sri Lanka Tourism.

A 24-hour helpline – 117 – has also been introduced by Sri Lanka Tourism, while a hotline (1912) is in operation for tourists who seek assistance.

Sri Lanka is now facilitating the smooth return of foreign nationals who are currently on the island on tourist and other visa categories. The Ministry of Foreign Relations said this will be done using both regular flight movements operating through Sri Lanka and also charter flights that may be deployed, as the airport remains open for outbound passenger movements.

As an island-wide curfew was enforced since 6.00 pm yesterday (20) until Monday (23), outgoing passengers, as well as the vehicle driver who would be transporting the passengers, are allowed to use the air ticket in lieu of a curfew pass.
