Heat advisory issued for several areas

The heat index, the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to the ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Mannar, Vavuniya, Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, and Monaragala districts.

The statement issued by the Department noted that this weather advisory is in effect until tomorrow (April 02).

The advisory urges the public to limit strenuous outdoor activities and to stay hydrated to avoid exhaustion and heat cramps.

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on the human body.
