Sri Lanka confirms 5th COVID-19 death

A COVID-19 patient who was receiving treatment at Welikanda Hospital has succumbed to the virus, Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.
This death brings the total fatalities in the country to 5.
The deceased has been identified as a 44-year-old from Italy. He had been in quarantine upon returning from Italy recently.
On March 23, he was admitted to the Welikanda Hospital and three days later he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Dr. Jasinghe noted that this coronavirus victim did not have any prior complications.
Sri Lanka has recorded 159 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far. According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, a total of 8 patients tested positive for the virus as of 10.10 pm on Friday (03).
130 patients are currently under medical care while 24 patients who had recovered completely were discharged from hospitals.
