Four charter flights to repatriate students from UK, Australia

Four special flights will be carried out from today onwards to repatriate Sri Lankan students stranded overseas due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

SriLankan Airlines stated that students stuck in the United Kingdom and Australia will be brought back to Sri Lanka through these missions.

A charter flight will fly to London today (03) to repatriate a batch of Sri Lankan students, while 2 more flights will be operated to repatriate the rest of the students in London.

Further, a charter flight from Australia will arrive in the country with Sri Lankan students on May 08, said SriLankan Airline.

Meanwhile, the SriLankan Airlines charter flight UL-503 left to the Heathrow Airport in London from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 4.40 am this morning.

No passengers except for the airline crew were on board on the flight.

The flight is scheduled to return at 12.45 am tomorrow morning (04) with 250 Sri Lankan students.
