First batch of Sri Lankan students repatriated from UK

A special SriLankan Airlines flight carrying Sri Lankan students from the United Kingdom has arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early this morning (04).

SriLankan Airlines charter flight UL 504 with 208 Sri Lankan student stranded in London landed in BIA t 3.30 am today, said Airport Correspondent of Ada Derana.

The returning students have been subjected to a sterilization process upon arrival and then directed to quarantine facilities by Sri Lanka Army.

Meanwhile, another flight to bring back another batch of students in the UK left BIA at 4 am this morning.

The flight is scheduled to arrive in the UK at 10.40 am today.

SriLankan Airlines have prepared 3 charter flights to repatriate Sri Lankan students in the UK who wish to return to the country.

UL 503 aircraft which departed BIA this morning will accompany the second batch from UK, and thereafter, the airline has scheduled to charter another flight to bring more returnees.

Returnees will undergo 14-day quarantine process at the army-run quarantine centres after arrival, following to a sterilization process at the airport.
