14 naval personnel among total COVID-19 recoveries

Two more naval personnel, who had contracted COVID-19, have been discharged following their full recovery from the virus.

They had been receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Angoda.

On that account, a total of 14 coronavirus-infected naval personnel has been discharged from hospitals to date, Sri Lanka Navy said in a statement.

These two sailors were infected with COVID-19 while serving in Welisara Naval Base and admitted to IDH Hospital for treatment. As they were found negative to the virus by the reports of random PCR tests done under treatment, they have been discharged.

“Although these naval personnel were discharged from hospitals, the Navy directs them for another 14 days of quarantine following the healthcare instructions,” the statement read.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, some 400 of the identified COVID-19 positive patients and navy personnel and those who have associated with them.
