May 16, 2020   10:44 pm

Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has decided to recommence services at all its offices from 20th May 2020 subject to certain limitations with a limited staff.

Previously, the services of the Department of Motor Traffic had been withheld owing to imposing curfew to mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19 Virus in the country.

Accordingly, the clients who expect to obtain the services provided by the DMT should contact the numbers set out by the Department from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on weekdays. Additionally, a prior appointment is needed to obtain the necessary services including registration of a motor vehicle, issuing driving licenses, and issuing certificates on vehicle inspection, stated the Department issuing a press release.

No service will be provided outside the said procedure for any purpose, stated DMT.

However, the one-day services carried out by the department will not be executed until notified later.

Further, the appointments will be allocated only based on the National Identity Card number sequence as defined by the Government and this appointment shall not be considered as a ‘Curfew Pass’ for transportation during the curfew period, added DMT.

Clients are expected to strictly adhere to government advice regarding hygiene and act with patience and sense with no agitation as a relief time period has been granted in relation to the periods that curfew had been in effect, stated DMT.
