A strong objection had arisen against United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at a meeting held with the UNP trade unions.

A meeting of UNP trade unions including the ‘Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya’ was held at the UNP Headquarters ‘Sirikotha’ this morning (08).

The meeting was attended by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake, General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, and Puttalam District Team Leader Palitha Range Bandara.

However, chaos ensued when Wickremesinghe attempted to leave the premises before the union leaders could present their issues.

Subsequently, Former Parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara made futile attempts to control the situation.

The meeting held with the party leaders was heavily criticized by the trade union leaders gathered at the premises.

Once the tense situation dissipated, the UNP Working Committee meeting was held at the ‘Sirikotha’, chaired by Wickremesinghe.
