All movie theatres will be permitted to resume screenings from June 27, says the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
The Secretary to the Ministry, M.K.B. Harischandra said, movie theatres will however be subjected to health guidelines introduced by the authorities.
Screenings at all movie theatres were halted since early March due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which interrupted the private and public sector activities as well as civilian life.
However, as the country is gradually returning to normalcy with no community coronavirus infections being reported for over a month, the movie theatres have also been granted permission to recommence screenings with strict compliance to guidelines to ensure hygienic safety.
